Book Your ConsultationWHAT ARE EXOSOMES?
Exosomes are microscopic extracellular vesicles naturally released by cells.
They function as part of the body's cellular communication system and can carry signaling molecules such as proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids between cells.
Because of their role in cellular signaling, exosomes and other extracellular-vesicle technologies are being actively investigated in regenerative medicine and aesthetics.
The composition of commercially available products can vary considerably depending on their source, manufacturing process, purification, concentration, and formulation.
Exosome-based regenerative aesthetics represents an emerging approach to skin and scalp rejuvenation.
At Avail Aesthetics MD, exosome-based products may be incorporated into carefully selected aesthetic treatment protocols designed to complement procedures such as microneedling, RF microneedling, microchanneling, and other skin-rejuvenation treatments.
Our approach is physician-directed and individualized according to your skin, scalp, treatment goals, and the procedure being performed.
EXOSOME SKIN REJUVENATION
Exosome-based products may be incorporated into cosmetic skin-rejuvenation protocols for patients concerned with the visible appearance of:
Fine lines
Uneven texture
Dull or tired-looking skin
Crepey skin
Enlarged-looking pores
Uneven skin tone
Acne-scar appearance
Age-related changes in skin quality
Overall skin rejuvenation
Rather than using one protocol for every patient, we determine whether an exosome-based treatment is appropriate and which complementary procedure best addresses your individual concerns.
EXOSOMES + MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling creates controlled microchannels within the skin as part of a skin-remodeling treatment.
An exosome-based topical product may be incorporated into selected microneedling protocols as an adjunct to the procedure.
This combination may be selected for patients seeking comprehensive improvement in the appearance of skin texture, tone, fine lines, pores, and overall skin quality.
EXOSOMES + RF MICRONEEDLING
For patients seeking a more intensive rejuvenation treatment, exosome-based products may also be paired with RF microneedling when medically appropriate.
RF microneedling combines controlled microneedling with radiofrequency energy to address skin texture and remodeling.
An exosome-based product may then be incorporated into the post-procedure protocol as part of a customized regenerative aesthetic treatment.
EXOSOMES + MICROCHANNELING
Microchanneling creates tiny controlled channels in the skin and can be paired with selected topical serums or regenerative aesthetic products.
Exosome-based formulations may be incorporated into customized microchanneling treatments designed to support an overall skin-rejuvenation protocol.
EXOSOME FACIAL REJUVENATION
Exosome-based products may also be incorporated into customized facial treatments for patients who want an elevated regenerative approach to skin care.
Depending on your skin and goals, your treatment plan may combine exosome-based products with procedures such as:
Microneedling
RF microneedling
Microchanneling
Dermaplaning
LED light therapy
Other physician-selected aesthetic treatments
Not every combination is appropriate for every patient. Your treatment will be selected based on your skin condition, procedure, and medical evaluation.
EXOSOME HAIR & SCALP REJUVENATION
Exosome technology is also being investigated for applications involving the scalp and hair.
At Avail Aesthetics MD, selected regenerative products may be considered as part of a comprehensive cosmetic hair and scalp program after appropriate evaluation.
Depending on your individual treatment plan, a hair-restoration program may incorporate procedures or therapies such as:
- Scalp microchanneling
- Microneedling
- RF-based scalp treatments
- PRP
- LED therapy
- Physician-selected topical therapies
- Other appropriate hair-restoration strategies
Because many different conditions can contribute to thinning hair, an appropriate evaluation is important before beginning treatment.
PRP VS. EXOSOMES
Although both are discussed within regenerative aesthetics, PRP and exosome-based products are very different.
PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma
PRP is prepared from your own blood. The platelet-rich portion of the plasma is concentrated and then used during treatment.
Exosome-Based Products
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles involved in cellular communication. Commercial exosome-based products are externally manufactured, and their source, processing, composition, concentration, and quality can vary between products.
Your provider can determine whether PRP, an exosome-based approach, or another regenerative treatment is most appropriate for your aesthetic goals.
EXOSOMES VS. GROWTH FACTORS
The terms “exosomes” and “growth factors” are sometimes used interchangeably in aesthetic marketing, but they are not the same thing.
Growth factors are signaling proteins.
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that may carry numerous types of signaling molecules.
Because regenerative products vary substantially, we believe it is important to evaluate the specific product being used rather than relying solely on marketing terminology.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
Your experience will depend primarily on the procedure being combined with the exosome-based product.
For example, patients undergoing microneedling or RF microneedling may experience temporary:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Sensitivity
- Dryness or tightness
- Pinpoint bleeding
- Mild peeling or flaking
Recovery time varies according to treatment intensity and individual skin response.
There is no universal exosome treatment schedule.
Your treatment plan will depend on your baseline skin or scalp condition, the procedure being performed, your goals, and your response to treatment.
Some patients may undergo a series of regenerative treatments followed by periodic maintenance.
Your provider will recommend an individualized plan following your consultation.
Regenerative aesthetic treatments are designed around gradual changes rather than instant transformation.
Depending on the procedure being performed, improvements in the appearance of skin texture, tone, or overall quality may develop progressively over the following weeks.
Hair-related changes require additional time because hair grows in cycles and should generally be
Not all products marketed as “exosomes” are equivalent.
Product sourcing, manufacturing, sterility, formulation, treatment method, patient selection, and the procedure being combined with the product are important considerations.
At Avail Aesthetics MD, our approach emphasizes:
- Physician-directed regenerative aesthetics
- Careful patient selection
- Individualized treatment planning
- Product and protocol evaluation
- Sterile medical technique
- Evidence-informed combination treatments
- Natural-looking rejuvenation
- Transparency regarding emerging aesthetic technologies
Our goal is not simply to follow regenerative-aesthetics trends. We evaluate how emerging technologies may fit responsibly into an individualized aesthetic treatment plan.
No exosome product is currently FDA-approved.
Exosome products intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease, or otherwise meet the definition of a drug or biological product, may be subject to FDA premarket review and approval requirements.
Patients should understand that cosmetic applications of products marketed as containing exosomes are not FDA-approved treatments.
Avail Aesthetics MD believes patients should be informed about the regulatory status of emerging regenerative products when considering treatment.
Regenerative aesthetic treatments are not appropriate for everyone.
During your consultation, we will evaluate your skin or scalp concerns, medical history, current treatments, aesthetic goals, and the procedure you are considering.
We can then determine whether an exosome-based product, PRP, another regenerative approach, or a different aesthetic treatment better fits your goals.
